Graphite on paper. I think I’ve found the winning combo for fun drawing projects. Drawing sculptures is more relaxing than drawing people (even with photos as reference). Perhaps because the sculptor has already removed extraneous details? And I’ve found my favorite combo of paper and graphite: Strathmore Bristol 4″x4″ sheets with Blackwing and Faber-Castell pencils. I started this one with an HB mechanical pencil (with lots of blending to remove the pencil strokes), then used a Blackwing Matte and a Faber-Castell 14B for the darkest shades.
