Charcoal on paper. This was my first attempt at using a straight line strategy to focus on capturing overall shape and proportions. This first iteration took about 20 minutes. I continued working on it to add my shading, etc., but I think I like the early version better. This feels more like my style and has more personality. I’m realizing that delicate linework is not my thing; I prefer bold lines and structure.
